Canada
A Winter Winterland

Photographing the Canadian Rockies
To say Canada’s landscapes are mesmerising is an understatement. The towering mountains of the Canadian Rockys are like no other place in Earth- and is no wonder they are often used as a backdrop for many Hollywood movies. The photography compositions for landscapes in Canada are endless. Canada boasts a number of pristine lakes, surrounded by towering mountains. The contrast between the stillness of the water and the ruggedness of the surrounding landscape is truly unbelievable. Most of the lakes in Canada are filled with glacier water, giving it that iconic bright turquoise caused by glacial sediment- providing a picture perfect moment.
Some of my favourite lakes in Canada to photograph include Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Bow Lake- all of which are shown in this gallery. Something I love about Canada, is that every time I got back to visit- it’s never quite the same. The way the ice and snow settles during the winter time is remarkably different. Despite re-visitng many locations over the years- I come back with a completely different set of photos.
Some other places that are a must-visit are
- Lake Louise: Known for its stunning turquoise waters and surrounding mountains, Lake Louise is a must-visit location for landscape photographers.
- Moraine Lake: Another iconic location, Moraine Lake is famous for its vibrant blue waters and stunning mountain backdrop.
- Peyto Lake: This glacier-fed lake is known for its unique shape and stunning turquoise color, making it a favorite among photographers.
- Athabasca Falls: This powerful waterfall is a great subject for long exposure photography, capturing the motion of the water.
