Remember me?
I used to be a fairly prolific blogger on Magic Hour Travelscapes as a professional travel and landscape photographer, managed to win some awards, was regularly published in magazines and ran photo workshops. My domain actually got stolen about 8 years ago but I felt at that point, I had already written everything I wanted to say about photography so didn’t get it restored. It was about that time when I started to lose interest in being a professional photographer.
I continued to travel, probably even more extensively than previously. I maintained a social media presence on the usual platforms, made some more images, went on some photo workshops to expand my knowledge and took up surfing.
There have been some big changes in my portfolio : winter landscapes and drone photography. When I left behind photography as a business, I had no winter landscapes; now I’ve made numerous trips to the arctic, chasing auroras and cold waves.
Then the pandemic hit and photographers around the world were screwed anyway. I spent these years exploring Australia, in particular the outback and have come to love the quiet beauty and rich varied colour palette of this region. I’ll spend some time over the next few blogs recounting some experiences from these road trips.
Rebooting the website has been quite a long painstaking process. I’ve spent the past 3 years re-editing my entire portfolio. My partner at http://vanessaclairephotography.com/ has a degree in Computer Engineering, so while we had ample time during lockdown, she created this new website for me. In the coming months I hope to update it with more photos from my trips this year and add videos, timelapse and music.
