Personal Favourites
My Favourite Landscapes From Over the Years

Caressing the Sea
Back in 2012 I spent a week in Cornwall with absolutely dreadful weather and light, except for 2 minutes while at
Dude during which I made this image that made the whole trip worthwhile

Moonlight Shadow
One of the most magical moments I've spent at the Twelve Apostles, predawn as the moon set behind some clouds

Freeze Frame
A memorable day when numerous snowstorms hit Kirkjufell around sunset and I made this image during one of the clearings

Gothic Pinnacles
Long exposure at one of Australia's most majestic coastal locations, Cape Woolamai which won me 2nd prize in the landscape category of the 2010 Australian Geographic ANZANG awards

Wildest Dreams
I caught a glimpse of this location some years before it became well known but was only able to return to scout it a couple of years later, and what an amazing sunset I was gifted, panorama of 3 horizontal frames giving a natural perspective

Cold Light of Day
Synergy between cold winter light, reflections and the textured sand of Skagsanden beach

The Illusionist
Of many photos I've made at the Giant's Causeway this is my favourite as the different perspective gives the illusion of water flowing down from the mountain

Symphony of a Thousand
This blazing sunset at the Catlins won me Digital Camera's Photographer of the Year landscape category

Desperate Measures
That time I desperately kept dragging a nice piece of ice back into my frame at Aoraki when it was threatening to float away downstream

Dawn Stars
One of my best known photos, having made the exhibition of the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of Year Competition in 2011. 'A long exposure captured the swirl of an eddy in the rock pool, suggesting some primordial world from which these strange creatures had emerged.'

Walls Deep
A winter hike through the cold waters of the Narrows contrasts with the fleeting warmth of reflected light within the canyons

Speed
Perfect tidal conditions for a long exposure capturing some water motion at the majestic Milford Sound

Celestial Aoraki
Star trails done the old fashioned way, a 70 minute single exposure of Mount Cook / Aoraki

Balancing Act
The title refers to the fact that I was standing on one of these slowly sinking fragments of ice as I photographed Mount Kirkjufell

Last Roll of the Dice
My long solo trip to Iceland had been unsuccessful for aurora sightings until the very last night when I witnessed this fairly brief showing at the magnificent Vestrahorn mountain

Wraith
Probably my favourite image at this location when a wicked rain storm swept through around sunrise

Breakout
There are few things more awe-inspiring than watching the interplay of light and clouds with big peaks

Frozen Visage
Commended in the interpretative category of the Australian Geographic ANZANG competition in 2013. Notes : Inside an ice cave at Fox Glacier, I lay on my belly photographing the pool of water and the icy textures reflected in it. When I tilted my head, I realised the potential for an abstract with strong anthropomorphic qualities. All I had to do was rotate the image 90 degrees.
